Kaden's Funeral

Kaden's funeral was exactly what we had hoped for and what we had pictured in our minds. On Monday Spencer and I were able to go to the funeral home and dress Kaden and spend a few last cherished moments with our precious son. This was such a blessing as we both felt some good closure after having had spent some time with his little body. The funeral on Tuesday was so wonderful. We had many pictures of Kaden for people to look at and also some of his things from the hospital and from his siblings. We had a good steady stream of people that attended the viewing, many of which said he looked like a little doll, which was very true. The hardest part of the day was kissing his little head and having to say goodbye to his little body. Oh what a blessing to know that we will see that precious body reunited with its glorious spirit someday. The funeral was so touching and perfect. Spencer gave a wonderful talk, sharing many experiences we had with Kaden and sharing his testimony in the Plan of Salvation and his testimony of the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our bishop read a wonderful account from the bible when Mary Magdalene went to see Jesus and he was gone from the tomb. She then seeing his spiritual being who had not yet ascended to His Father, and the account of his Resurrection. A member of our stake presidency also spoke sharing with us touching accounts of how Kaden has affected so many people during his short time here. We also showed a side show of Kaden's life. Abbie, Carter and Justin sang 'Families Can Be Together Forever" as the last song on the slide show. After the service, we went to the cemetery where Spencer tenderly dedicated the grave of his son. After the dedication we handed out balloons to everyone who came and all at the same time let them go. It was really wonderful to watch them all lift off together toward heaven. There was one way up top leading the way and the rest appeared to be following. Spencer and I never dreamed we would ever go through anything like this during our life together. Last night as we talked about the day and opened many cards and looked at all of the flowers and plants that make our living room resemble a green house, we couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of joy and love from so many people. Kaden's spirit is still felt very strongly on our home. People have commented and many people have openly expressed their appreciation to us for sharing such a private and sacred time of our lives. We firmly believe Kaden's life was a mission. He was sent here on a mission that he fulfilled. Spencer and I feel like Kaden wanted and needed us to help him be able to serve that mission. We strongly feel he wanted us to share this experience so he could reach out to people and so they could see the real reason why we are all on this earth. This experience has been one of joy and sorrow. We will always have a special place in our hearts for this wonderful servant of our Father in Heaven. We know he has returned to Jesus and is continuing to work in heaven as he did here spreading the gospel of our Savior. Kaden is well loved and will always be a special part of our lives. Thank you to everyone for sharing this little piece of heaven with us!!
